Cobra Electronics Announces Next Generation of Marine Product Line

Evolution of Handheld and Fixed Mount Radios Highlight 2005 Offerings at the Miami International Boat Show

CHICAGO, Feb. 17 -- Cobra Electronics , a leading manufacturer of marine products, announced today at the 2005 Miami International Boat Show a national rollout of entry-level and professional-grade marine products. The 2005 Cobra Marine(TM) line contains industry-leading features and a dedication to safety unmatched in the marine industry.

The new line of handheld VHF radios highlights the 2005 enhancements. The new entry-level models include all U.S., Canadian and International VHF channels, water resistance and 10 built-in NOAA channels, which provide 24-hour access to local weather information.

The professional-grade handheld radios are bundled with numerous accessories that consumers typically purchase separately. They include a drop- in charger with both AC and DC adapters. The MR HH400 XVP includes 2100 NiMH rechargeable batteries, providing more power and longer life between charges than any other battery in the industry. In addition, an industry-leading three-year warranty is included in all professional-grade models.

Also included in the 2005 line are Cobra's cutting-edge fixed mount VHF transceivers, as well as a full line of new power inverters. The fixed mount transceivers include a premium model that is an industry first with its 2-inch channel numbers on the largest LCD available on comparably priced fixed radios. This model also features a combined speaker/microphone with volume and channel controls and instant 9 /16 button. The power inverters are available in 400-, 800-, 1500- and 2200-watt models. All four units feature GFCI AC outlets to protect against shock -- the first 400- and 800-watt models available with this fundamental safety feature.

"Cobra has enjoyed a great first year in the marine market and we plan on continuing the momentum with our next generation product offerings," said Tony Mirabelli, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Cobra Electronics. "We believe the future for Cobra Marine is bright as we continue to innovate and evolve our line to meet the needs of our customers."
