Iteris Lane Departure Warning System Leads Adoption of Crash Avoidance Technologies

ANAHEIM, Calif.--Feb. 1, 20055, 2005--

Government Agency and Nation's Leading Publications Continue to Recognize Value of Innovations That Can Help Save Lives on America's Roads

Iteris Inc. (AMEX:ITI), a leader in the development of vision-based technology that enhances driver safety, today announced that its AutoVue Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system continues to receive recognition from some of the nation's leading publications for being in the vanguard of crash avoidance technologies recently highlighted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

In a January 2005 presentation to automotive industry executives, Dr. Jeffrey Runge, administrator of NHTSA, indicated the government agency is shifting its focus to new technologies that can help drivers avoid accidents. Iteris' LDW technology has been cited by many industry observers as one of the leading crash avoidance technologies now on the market.

In recent months, some of the nation's leading publications including U.S. News & World Report, New York Times, Forbes.com, Automotive News and Scientific American have recognized, and in some instances honored, the LDW technology developed by Iteris for its potential role in helping save lives.

"We are pleased to see that the industry and consumers alike are embracing the value of crash avoidance technologies like our AutoVue LDW system," said Jack Johnson, chief executive officer of Iteris Inc. "New and innovative technologies like LDW are expected to play an important role in highway safety and can save significant numbers of lives. We are proud to be involved in such an important pursuit, and the continuous recognition underscores the traction Iteris is gaining in the marketplace."

Iteris' LDW technology is the first of its kind to be available on passenger cars in the United States through a global partnership between Iteris and Valeo SA. The LDW system is now available as part of an option package on 2005 models of Infiniti's FX crossover sport utility vehicle and is supported by Nissan North America in a comprehensive nationwide advertising campaign that includes radio and television spots. The LDW system is also expected to be available as part of an option package on the next-generation M45 performance luxury sedan, scheduled to go on sale in Spring 2005.

Iteris was the first company to offer the LDW system to the commercial truck market with more than 10,000 units currently in use in the United States and Europe with an estimated 1 billion road miles traveled to date. The LDW system uses proprietary software algorithms and advanced imaging technology to create a cost-effective system that audibly warns drivers when their car or truck is unintentionally drifting out of its lane.

The articles that appeared in The New York Times, U.S. News & World Report, Forbes.Com, Automotive News and Scientific American, as well as many others focused on Iteris and its LDW technology, are available for review on the company's Web site at www.iteris.com under "Iteris in the Media."
