A Trip to the Gas Pump Just Got Lighter

                 Gentlemen, Start Your (Hydrogen) Engines

        - Mario Andretti Waves Green Flag to ChevronTexaco's First
                        Hydrogen Energy Station -

   WHAT: ChevronTexaco Technology Ventures
with the help of
race car legend Mario Andretti will unveil its first
demonstration hydrogen energy station and on-site hydrogen
production units. The energy station is among a few of its
kind where the hydrogen is produced on-site, avoiding any need
   to transport hydrogen.

A demonstration fueling of Hyundai's Tucson fuel cell vehicle
will be given and the vehicle will be available for limited
test-drives and test-rides. Tours of the on-site hydrogen
production units will also be available.

WHO: The joint development and demonstration project is part of a
five-year cost-share contract awarded by the U.S. Department
of Energy to ChevronTexaco Technology Ventures, Hyundai Motor
Co. and UTC Fuel Cells. The team came together to research
and test an efficient and practical bridge to the hydrogen
   highway.

WHY: To meet the demand for more, as well as newer forms of energy,
ChevronTexaco Technology Ventures is investing in
environmentally smart technologies, such as hydrogen fuel for
transportation fleets and to generate ultra-clean power. The
demonstration energy station is an important first step in
proving the technical feasibility and economic sustainability
of hydrogen-based systems. ChevronTexaco Technology Ventures
is exploring a fuel for the future that diversifies the energy
supply and aids in cleaner air and a healthier environment.
