NASCAR Star Tony Stewart 'Cleans Up' Just in Time for Start of 2005 Racing Season

Stewart to Drive Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro-Series Carwash Chevrolet in Six NASCAR Busch Series Races in 2005, Making Debut at Daytona

CINCINNATI, Feb. 14 -- Tony Stewart plans to "clean up" in this year's 2005 NASCAR Busch Series racing season with a little help from America's favorite cleaning icon, Mr. Clean.

Procter & Gamble announced today that it has entered into a six-race agreement with Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI), with Stewart piloting the No. 33 Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro-Series Carwash Chevrolet in a limited Busch Series schedule.

"I am thrilled to become a part of the Mr. Clean and KHI racing family," said Stewart, who in 25 years of racing has scored nine driving titles, the most recent one being the 2002 NASCAR Cup Series championship. "Thanks to Mr. Clean and the Mr. Clean AutoDry(TM) Pro-Series Carwash system, not only will I be cleaning my car, but I plan to 'clean-up' at Daytona as well."

Stewart has competed in 41 Busch Series races dating back to 1996, and while he has amassed two poles, eight top-fives and nine top-10s, he is still looking for that elusive first win. With the help of Mr. Clean, Stewart is ready to "clean up" that portion of his Busch Series resume with a win in the season-opening Hershey's TAKE 5 300 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway February 19th. It will be Stewart's first season driving the Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro-Series Carwash car in the Busch Series.

"We are combining the icon of racing with the icon of clean," said Nick Patterson, Mr. Clean Assistant Brand Manager. "You could not ask for a better pair to hit the race track for the 2005 season."

"Kevin Harvick Inc., could not be more excited to have Tony drive one of our cars," said Kevin Harvick, founder of the team that bears his name. "With the work of our pit crew combined with Tony's racing skills, we will have the cleanest, fastest car on the track."

The six-race Busch Series schedule for Stewart is as follows:

   Feb. 19 Hershey's Take 5 300, Daytona International Speedway

   March 19 Aaron's 312, Atlanta Motor Speedway

April 22 Bashas' Supermarkets 200, Phoenix International Raceway

   April 30 Aaron's 312, Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway

May 13 Funai 250, Richmond (Va.) International Raceway

May 28 CarQuest Auto Parts 300, Lowe's (Concord, N.C.) Motor Speedway

New Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro-Series Carwash Hits the Scene

The Tony Stewart partnership is announced just as the next generation in revolutionary car care hits store shelves - Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro-Series Carwash. Featuring a new Jet-Action Spray setting five-times more powerful than the rinse setting, Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro-Series helps to remove even the hardest-to-remove dirt and grime from all of your car's surfaces! "Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro-Series Carwash is truly revolutionary. I was surprised to see a spot-free finish with no hand-drying," said Stewart.

The all-in-one, lightweight, ergonomic device is packaged in an organizational carrying case with a built-in drainage system that allows the device to be put away and dry on its own. Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro-Series Carwash kits feature a wash mitt, Soft-Touch Grip for comfort and a new Quick Connector for swivel action during use. The new kits will be sold at major retailers nationwide beginning in February 2005.

About Tony Stewart

Stewart's racing career began at age seven behind the wheel of a go-kart, with his father, Nelson, serving as car owner and crew chief. In 1980 at the age of eight, Stewart won his first championship - a 4-cycle rookie junior class championship at the Columbus, Ind. Fairgrounds. Two more karting championships followed, but this time on a national level - the 1983 International Karting Federation Grand National championship and the 1987 World Karting Association National championship.

Since those karting days, Stewart has accumulated four USAC titles, one IRL crown, and earned his NASCAR Cup Series championship in just his fourth year of Cup competition, joining only six other full-time, active drivers to have won the series title - Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte, Dale Jarrett, Rusty Wallace, Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch.

In addition to being devoted to racing, Stewart is also devoted to philanthropy. He formed his own charitable foundation in 2003, known simply as the Tony Stewart Foundation. Its goal is to raise funds that will be primarily distributed to organizations that help care for critically ill children, as well as to lend support to families of race car drivers who have been injured in motorsports.
