BorgWarner Produces Millionth Visctronic(R) System

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 10, 2005 -- The millionth Visctronic(R) engine cooling system was produced this week at BorgWarner Emissions/Thermal Systems in Fletcher, North Carolina.

BorgWarner Visctronic is a patented, revolutionary product that combines proven viscous technology with innovative precision electronic controls. The fan drive is controlled by the engine's cooling module for precise fan speed modulation to improve engine cooling and fuel economy, while providing more power to the wheels of light, medium and heavy duty vehicles. The systems support Ford and DaimlerChrysler North American light truck applications.

"We are proud to mark this milestone in the history of Visctronic, which is our first Thermal Systems product to utilize electronic controls technology," said Alfred Weber, BorgWarner Emissions/Thermal Systems President and General Manager. "The continuing popularity of light trucks and SUVs and increasing emissions regulations for diesel engines have contributed to BorgWarner's growth in thermal systems, and Visctronic has played a key role in that," he said. "Congratulations to Emissions/Thermal employees at our facilities in Fletcher, as well as in Dixon, Illinois, where the controls are produced," said Weber. "Each of them has helped us reach the one million mark."

The Thermal group of BorgWarner Emissions/Thermal Systems, part of the BorgWarner Engine Group, is the leading designer and supplier of engine thermal management components for global vehicle manufacturers and aftermarket applications. BorgWarner entered the thermal systems business by creating BorgWarner Cooling Systems in 1999. Cooling Systems and Air Fluid Systems were combined in 2002 to become what is now known as BorgWarner Emissions/Thermal Systems.
