2005 Chicago Auto Show; What's the Difference between a License Plate and a Fashion Plate? Less Than One Might IMAGINE
IADT Fashion Students Rev Up for GM Design Competition: IMAGINE 2005 WHO/ WHAT: The most-asked question on opening morning of this year's Chicago Auto Show might be, "How many clotheshorse under the hood?," as more than 100 fashion design students from Chicago's International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) fuel their creativity on General Motors' hottest new models (of the vehicular variety). Now that's a set of wheels! Sketchpads in hand, the student designers will steel inspiration from five of GM's most fashionable vehicles - the new Saturn Sky, Pontiac G6 Coupe, Chevrolet Cobalt Supercharged SS, Cadillac CTS-V and "mini" Hummer H3 - as they begin designing original, auto-inspired garments they hope will earn them scholarship money from GM and a featured spot in IADT's "IMAGINE 2005" spring fashion show. Opening remarks by top GM color designer Chris Webb (a former fashion student himself) will super-charge the unique design competition. WHEN: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2005 WHERE: GM Saturn display, Chicago Auto Show McCormick Place South, Lake Shore Drive at 23rd Street, Chicago
