Joe Policastro: "I just got back in and the car was pretty decent. I noticed
the clutch was slipping a little bit, and about the third lap, coming
through the Bus Stop, all the lights went off and there was a puff of smoke.
I shut it down; that was it."
Zen mode
Some drivers chase the adrenaline rush of racing. Marc Sluszny, who drives
the No. 63 (traders) Porsche with Derek Clark, Pat Flanagan and Dave Master,
enjoys a different state.
"When you get to a point where you're so concentrated, in race-car driving
and in sky-diving, you're in a kind of Zen mode, which is like a
meditation," he explained. "If you would just meditate, it would take you
longer to get into it. The same thing happens if you do another sport – if
you do marathon racing, you get into that zone, also. But with race-car
driving, you get it as soon as you put your belts on and you have the motor
turning."
