Toyota's West Virginia Plant Featured in Company's Latest Corporate Ad
NEW YORK, Feb. 4, 2005 -- Toyota Motor North America, Inc., today launched the sixth print execution of its new corporate advertising campaign, featuring Toyota Motor Manufacturing, West Virginia (TMMWV).
Entitled "Good Business," the campaign, initially announced in July 2004, emphasizes Toyota's long-term commitment to the U.S. market, which has resulted in the creation of 200,000 jobs including dealers and suppliers. "Our West Virginia plant, with over 1,000 team members, is a great example of how local communities have contributed to Toyota's success," said Dennis Cuneo, senior vice president of Toyota Motor North America, Inc. "Our experience there is typical of the dedication and focus on quality throughout our eight U.S. plants, and a big reason why we remain so committed to investment and job creation here."
Located in Buffalo, West Virginia, TMMWV commenced operations in 1998 and currently builds four-cylinder engines for the Corolla and Matrix; V6 engines for the Sienna and Lexus RX330; and automatic transmissions for the North American-built Camry, Solara, Lexus RX330 and Sienna. Gear production, currently done at a Toyota facility in Japan, will begin in Buffalo in 2006.
The headline of the ad featuring TMMWV reads: "It takes local talent to build world-class engines." The accompanying photo depicts team members involved in engine production along the TMMWV assembly line. The ad copy highlights Toyota's eight plants in the U.S., involved in the building of engines, transmissions and cylinder heads, as well as more than 1 million quality cars and trucks a year. The ad also mentions Toyota's ongoing growth in the U.S. market including two plants under construction.
"Toyota is known for its quality, but many people don't know Toyota quality is built in the U.S. at facilities like TMMWV," said Linda Watson, senior vice president and group account director at DCA Advertising, who created the ads. "Local production of major components is an extremely important part of Toyota's American presence."
The campaign is running in more than 40 national publications, including USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Time and others. In addition, the ads will appear in local business publications in the communities surrounding some of the featured operations.
Other recent corporate advertising campaigns as part of Toyota's "Good Business" theme have included:
* Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. (Torrance, CA) * Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (San Antonio) * Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Alabama (Huntsville) * Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (Princeton) * Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (Georgetown)
