Galle, Sri Lanka Tsunami Victims Get Big Boost from Chrysler Jeep Superstores of Southeast Michigan
Total Donation Amount for the 40 Chrysler Jeep Superstores of Southeast Michigan is $87,400
Group Gives $25 Per Vehicle Sold Through Month of January to Relief Fund
DETROIT, Feb. 4 -- The Chrysler Jeep Superstores of Southeast Michigan raised $87,400 in tsunami relief funds targeted to the rebuilding of the Sri Lanka village of Galle. The funds are being donated to the rebuilding project of the Salvation Army of Southeast Michigan.
The $87,400 relief assistance was created by the Chrysler Jeep Superstore Advertising Association of Southeast Michigan donation of $25 for each new vehicle sold or leased by its 40 store members during the month of January.
"We wanted to help rebuild Galle from the ground up after it was hit so hard by this tragic natural disaster," Schebil said. "The Salvation Army people now in Sri Lanka told us that it looked as if a huge bomb went off and even the debris from ruined homes has washed away. There is a lot of work to do and every little bit helps."
The Chrysler Jeep Superstores Advertising Association is made up of the 40 independently owned Chrysler Jeep Superstores in Southeastern Michigan from Monroe to Fowlerville, and from Clinton to Port Huron.
