Nissan Europe Reports January Sales
TRAPPES, France, February 4 -- Nissan Europe reported total sales of 37,543 vehicles (1) in January 2005, a decrease of 7.1% over the same month last year.
HIGHLIGHTS BY COUNTRY
- Nissan in France sold 2,461 units in January, registering a 29.2% decrease compared to last year.
- In Germany, Nissan sold 2,663 units in January, representing a decrease of 16.8% compared to last year.
- In Italy, Nissan sold 4,859 units in January, down 31.3% compared to last year.
- Nissan in Spain sold 4,331 units in January, up 2.4% compared to last year.
- In the UK, Nissan sold 7,392 units, an increase of 2.2% compared to last year.
- In Russia, Nissan sold 1,518 units, an increase of 149.3% compared to last year.
MODEL HIGHLIGHTS
- The Micra was Nissan's best-selling European model with a total of 9,105 unit sales in January representing a decrease of 23.5% against the same month last year.
- X-TRAIL sales increased by 4.2% in January against the same month last year to 5,083 units.
- Pickup sales decreased by 6.9% in January against the same month last year to 2,980 units.
Nissan employs around 12,000 people in its European design, research and development, manufacturing, logistics, and sales and marketing operations. Last year, the company produced a total of 448,513 vehicles in its Spanish and British plants and sold 543,948 vehicles in Europe. Nissan Europe's Head Office is based in Trappes (Paris), France.
