Kodak Takes Another Lap With Joe Henderson
Henderson Signs with MB2 Motorsports in Drive for Diversity Program
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 1 -- Eastman Kodak Company today announced it will again sponsor Joe Henderson III in the "Drive for Diversity" driver development program, which is endorsed by NASCAR. An inaugural Drive for Diversity participant, Henderson will pilot the No. 77 Kodak EasyShare Chevrolet Monte Carlo for MB2 Motorsports in the 2005 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series.
Henderson, of Franklin, Tenn., was selected for his second season in the Drive for Diversity program by MB2 Motorsports based on his performance at the 2005 Drive for Diversity Testing and Evaluation event, held last October in Radford, Va. Henderson and MB2 Motorsports General Manager and CEO Jay Frye came to agreement on the 2005 season early this year. Terms of the sponsorship were not disclosed.
"This is an exciting time for me," said Henderson. "Having this opportunity to drive for MB2 Motorsports is a wonderful experience and will bring me a step closer to realizing my dreams of driving in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series. I was honored last year to have Kodak as my sponsor and I am glad to be working with them again this season. Drive for Diversity has helped me a lot in my career and I am fortunate to be affiliated with them again this season."
In his first season with the Drive for Diversity program, Henderson scored eight Top Ten finishes in 20 races during the 2004 season with Bobby Hamilton Racing in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series at Music City Motorplex in Nashville, Tenn. Henderson will return to the Nashville track for the first five races of the 2005 season.
"The Drive for Diversity program set a milestone in professional motorsports, creating winning opportunities for emerging drivers and crew members from many backgrounds," said Essie L. Calhoun, Kodak's Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Community Affairs, and a Kodak vice president. "This is Kodak's second year with the Drive for Diversity program, and we are proud to continue our participation -- as well as our relationship with Joe and his new racing team."
"We are excited about Joe joining our team and working with the Drive for Diversity program," said Frye. "Developing young drivers is the wave of NASCAR's future and Joe has demonstrated the talent and passion it takes to be successful. This is an exciting endeavor for MB2 and our plan is to accelerate Joe's progression."
"We are really proud of what Drive for Diversity accomplished throughout our initial season in 2004. Joe showed great potential last year, and we wish him even greater success this year with MB2 Motorsports. We look forward to experiencing the continual development of the dynamic partnership between Kodak, MB2 Motorsports, and Joe Henderson with the Drive for Diversity program," said Greg Calhoun, President and CEO of Access Marketing & Communications.
