DALLAS, Jan. 31 -- AXCESS International Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: AXSI.OB) , a leading provider of Active Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems today announced that Perimeter Access Control Equipment Corporation of New York, an AXCESS distributor, recently completed an installation at a residential gated community on Long Island which utilizes 200 active tags to provide a truly automatic, hands-free vehicle access solution. AXCESS' automatic vehicle access control system continues to be a leading choice among gated communities nationwide.

While the market for residential gated access continues to grow, it has been hampered by large infrastructure costs and intrusive manual procedures for entry. Active RFID has the advantage of providing a low cost and aesthetically pleasing installation while providing hands-free rolling access which is automatic, convenient and efficient.

AXCESS' ActiveTag(TM) RFID solution includes an underground road loop antenna that activates the small key fob tag located on the driver's key chain as the vehicle approaches. The key fob tag is similar in size and appearance to most automatic car entry fobs. The activated tag transmits the identification to a palm-sized receiver tied to the gate controller for "rolling vehicle access". Residential access is now provided immediately and "hands-free" for authorized vehicles where manual authorization was previously needed.

AXCESS' patented ActiveTag RFID product uses small, battery powered tags (generically called "active" tags) that when automatically activated transmit a wireless message to hidden palm size receivers. Optionally, the tag system can be used to trigger security video recording and live remote video transmission using proprietary AXCESS technology.
