Trichord Launches Updated SpeedAlerts for Metro Washington Commuters and Fleet Managers

LEESBURG, Va.--Jan. 2, 20056, 2005--Trichord announced today that it has upgraded its SpeedAlerts(TM) subscription service in the Washington D.C. Region. Based on feedback from current subscribers, Trichord has added significant new features to the real-time traffic alert service at www.speedalerts.com. Commuters will find the new service easier to use, with an improved online process for selecting which roads to monitor, a "clickable" map interface and streamlined registration process. Because of increased demand, Trichord has added support for corporate accounts and discounts for blocks of subscriptions.

According to Lee-Ann Seeling, Trichord's Director of Intelligent Transportation Systems and SpeedAlerts(TM) Product Manager, "Trichord is excited about our enhanced features; we have this unique service that lets individual commuters personalize real-time traffic data for their own use at an affordable price."

The automated data is collected by hundreds of real-time traffic sensors throughout the region that measure traffic speeds. Trichord processes the data and delivers it through a variety of products used by media outlets, commercial businesses, and public sector agencies.

With a SpeedAlerts(TM) subscription, real-time traffic speed information can be sent to the home and workplace by e-mail and cell phone. Commuters must go to the SpeedAlerts.com website to establish a subscription and choose which roads to monitor and when to monitor them. Subscribers choose their personal "pain threshold" for each road - the point in miles per hour at which they want to know about increasing congestion. They receive another SpeedAlert(TM) when congestion eases and speeds rise above their individual threshold. Subscribers receive unlimited access to the SpeedAlerts(TM) service for a monthly fee of $6.95.

Seeling continues, "SpeedAlerts(TM) lets commuters avoid traffic delays, reduces stress, and advises when to use alternate routes. Our goal is to help drivers save time, fuel, and money by using SpeedAlerts(TM) to avoid traffic congestion. We will continue to incorporate comments and feedback from commuters and subscribers in future upgrades, and help everyone avoid delays from traffic congestion."
