RouteOne Selects eOriginal as One of its Strategic Technology Providers for eContracting

Open standards support, proven technology and eOriginal's depth of experience are keys to selection

NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 26 -- American Financial Services Association Vehicle Finance Conference and Exposition -- RouteOne, LLC, the joint venture formed in 2002 by DaimlerChrysler Services, Ford Motor Credit Company, General Motors Acceptance Corporation, and Toyota Financial Services, announced today that it has entered into a strategic software licensing and services agreement with eOriginal, a leading eContracting technology provider, to enable the creation, execution and management of electronic motor vehicle retail installment agreements and leases.

Today, automotive dealers and finance sources exchange consumer credit application and decision information quickly and securely from a single desktop, using RouteOne's on-line Credit Application System. The system was introduced to dealers nationwide throughout 2004, and the rollout continues into 2005. RouteOne is currently developing an eContracting solution to further improve the financing process for consumers, dealers, and finance sources. "Our commitment to our dealers has never been stronger, and the agreement with eOriginal further proves that point," said RouteOne CEO Mike Jurecki. "We look forward to working with eOriginal to provide an end-to-end eContracting solution for dealers and finance sources."

The automotive finance industry has been leading the adoption of fully electronic lending processes across all financial services segments. RouteOne's entry into this market adds further momentum to the adoption of eContracting. "We are taking the necessary time to ensure that RouteOne builds the 'best-in-class' solution for eContracting. This solution will continue with the standards-based approach we successfully employed with the Credit Application System, and will be flexible enough to meet the varied and evolving needs of our dealer and finance source customers. We expect to pilot our eContracting solution with selected dealers by late 2005," said Joel Gruber, CIO of RouteOne.

RouteOne's new eContracting capabilities are based on the eOriginal eCore Business Suite and eOriginal SmartSign enterprise software products. eOriginal software provides advanced security, strict access controls, audit procedures, and full compliance with the rigorous legal and regulatory requirements governing legal recognition of electronic signatures and eContracts as electronic chattel paper. eOriginal has actively supported development of the legal and technical underpinnings for eContracts in the automotive finance industry, including on-going participation in the AFSA standards initiatives.

"We are proud that our experience and proven technology will allow RouteOne to confidently provide a completely paperless, on-line automotive financing environment. We look to customers like RouteOne to extend the reach of eContracting as a readily available, standard process for the automotive finance industry," said Jack Stose, vice-president of sales and marketing at eOriginal. "We blazed this technology trail in electronic commerce for financial services, and it is extremely rewarding to see the automotive segment benefit from our mature software offerings. We expect other electronic lending initiatives, including those in mortgage finance, to be bolstered by RouteOne's commitment to eContracting as evidenced by this landmark agreement."
