Copart and ASI Announce Software Integration
FAIRFIELD, Calif.--Jan. 2, 20055, 2005--Copart, Inc. and ASI (Auction Software, Inc.) today jointly announced the integration of Copart's proprietary VB2 virtual auction software with ASI's auction management software, AUCSOFT. The integration allows users of AUCSOFT to automatically and seamlessly transfer vehicle data, history and condition reports as well as digital images of the vehicle between ASI's AUCSOFT and Copart's VB2.Copart has entered into agreements with 38 wholesale vehicle auctions to provide its proprietary VB2 auction technology for use in their auction process and is currently working to implement VB2 at their sites.
"We are pleased that we have completed this integration in such a short period of time. We believe this will allow our wholesale partners to implement the VB2 model much more efficiently, with minimal impact on their current operations," said Willis J. Johnson, Copart's Chief Executive Officer.
"Many of the VB2 Charter Members use the ASI proprietary software package. At users' request, we wrote an interface that automatically extracts the VB2 vehicles, populates the VB2 web site with both data and digital images then accepts post-sale results into the AUCSOFT software for processing," said Ron Ball, ASI's Chief Executive Officer.

Safe Harbor Concerning Forward-Looking Statements
This press release contains statements concerning Copart's intention to expand its business by implementing its VB2 auction technologies in the wholesale automobile auction market, including implementations of VB2 at non-affiliated wholesale auctions. This strategy presents numerous risks associated with new business ventures. Copart cannot predict what effect, if any, implementation of VB2 at third party auctions will have on Copart's business or operating results. In particular, Copart's historic experience has focused on auctions of salvage vehicles and, more recently, on public auctions of non-salvage vehicles. Copart has no experience licensing or otherwise selling technology products or providing auction management or support services to unrelated auctions.
