West Hollywood City Council to Consider Incentives for Hybrid Vehicles

--
WHAT: The West Hollywood City Council will consider approving a
pilot program to provide incentives for West Hollywood
residents to purchase or lease hybrid vehicles at tonight's
City Council meeting. A "certified hybrid vehicle" is "a
gas/electric hybrid vehicle that has a combined fuel economy
rating of 45 miles per gallon or greater according to the
federal highway fuel economy test procedure and meets
California's ultra-low emission vehicle (ULEV) standard for
exhaust emissions." If approved, the pilot program would be
temporary and last through December 31, 2005. The pilot
program would exempt lessees or owners of hybrid vehicles from
the cost of purchasing residential parking passes. It would
also provide lessees or owners of hybrid vehicles with special
"hybrid" resident passes that would be recognized in all
        Preferential Parking Districts.

WHEN: Tonight, January 18, 2005
        6 p.m.

WHERE: West Hollywood Park Auditorium
        647 North San Vicente Boulevard
