Hydrogenics to Supply 10kW Fuel Cell Power Module and Test Equipment to Japan Automobile Research Institute
TORONTO, Jan. 18, 2005 -- Hydrogenics Corporation (TSX: HYG and Nasdaq: HYGS), a developer and manufacturer of hydrogen and fuel cell products, today announced that the Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI) in Tsukuba, Japan, has purchased a Hydrogenics HyPM(R) 10 power module with associated test stand to be used as part of JARI's mandate to establish standards for Fuel Cell Power Module Testing, a program sponsored by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). The combined delivery will be made in the first quarter of 2005.
"The selection of our HyPM 10 by JARI, a leading research organization, is an affirmation of Hydrogenics' technology and of the part that we can play in a global hydrogen future," said Pierre Rivard, president and CEO of Hydrogenics. "We are committed to helping accelerate the growth of hydrogen fuel cell technology, and it is critical to this goal that we foster the development of industry standards through leading organizations such as JARI."
"We are excited to be adding Hydrogenics HyPM 10 and test equipment to our line up of hydrogen technology for the development of standards for the industry," said Shogo Watanabe, Deputy General Manager of JARI's FC-EV Center. "The addition of this technology will help ensure that the development of industry standards is based on one of the best technologies currently available."
The Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI) was established in 1969 to engage in general research on automobiles. It started as a public-service corporation of a test-research organization intended to contribute to healthy development of the automotive society.
