ARA Scholarship Fund Gets Donation From Former Recipient

FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 17, 2005 -- Former ARA Scholarship recipient Thomas G. Sheftel of Marietta, GA, now Thomas G. Sheftel, M.D., sent ARA a letter and a check in the amount of $5,000 to be placed in the Scholarship Foundation fund. Dr. Sheftel was a scholarship recipient in 1972. Additionally, Dr. Sheftel explained in his letter, "this money allowed my brother and myself to obtain a quality education at the University of Kansas. The continued support helped us to complete medical school. My sister received an architecture degree at Washington University with the help of the scholarship."

ARA's Scholarship Foundation currently chaired by Linda Pitman of Dulaney Auto and Truck Parts of Amarillo, Inc. and managed on staff by Kelly Badillo, ARA's Director of Member Services, administers the foundation's funds to assist the children of employees of automotive recycling facilities in paying the costs of attending the colleges of their choice.

ARA's Scholarship Foundation manages over 30 Perpetually named scholarships. Contributions can be made to the ARA Scholarship Foundation at 3975 Fair Ridge Drive, Suite 20 North, Fairfax, VA 22033. Contributors may add to an existing scholarship with any donation, contribute to a named scholarship with a $1,000 donation or may choose to establish a new honorial or memorial scholarship with a donation of $5,000.

Founded in 1943, the Automotive Recyclers Association represents an industry dedicated to the efficient removal and reuse of automotive parts, and the proper disposal of inoperable motor vehicles. With programs such as the Certified Auto Recycler program, and other partnerships with automotive manufacturers, automotive recycling will continue to provide consumers with quality, low cost alternatives for vehicle replacement parts, while preserving our environment for tomorrow.
