DETROIT January 11, 2005; The AP reported that two years after introducing the Phantom, officials with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. said Tuesday that continued expansion of the company's lineup is part of its long-term plans.
Rolls-Royce sold 792 of the massive luxury cars last year and plans to build a two-door, four-seat convertible that will be unveiled in 2007. The convertible is inspired by the Rolls-Royce Centenary experimental car 100EX.
"Looking further ahead, there are all kinds of ideas for possible future models -- but at the moment there are just ideas," Howard Mosher, sales and marketing director, said at the North American International Auto Show.
"Rolls-Royce has a rich history of building all sorts of special motor cars."
The V-12 Phantom, which starts at about $323,000 in the United States, was the first Rolls-Royce model for BMW since it acquired the name.
