HARRODSBURG, Ky. & RACINE, Wis.--Jan. 1, 20050, 2005--Modine Manufacturing Company , a world leader in thermal management, announced today its Harrodsburg, Kentucky facility has been awarded the prestigious Kentucky Governor's Award for Health & Safety in recognition of employees working half a million hours without a lost-time accident.

The facility, which produces round-tube plate fin heat exchangers in heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) modules and systems for automotive, truck and off-highway applications, has actually recorded more than 700,000 hours since the last accident which lost worker time in July 2002.

Ron Blackwell, Director of the Kentucky OSHA Department of Safety and Training, presented the award to Harrodsburg's nearly 200 employees. Harrodsburg Plant Manager John Foutch congratulated his staff on their accomplishment. "We are especially proud of this award because we all worked together to achieve it. This just shows the world that we consider safety our job. It is our goal that everyone who comes in our doors, leaves in the same good condition as when they arrived," he said.

This award shows the progress the plant has achieved in six years, going from 62 recordable injuries in 1997 to zero in 2003. Modine Harrodsburg has a list of awards in addition to the Governor's Award. It is the only plant in the Heavy Duty/Industrial Division to receive the Modine Safety STAR Award, and the only plant in Modine awarded the Kentucky OSHA Voluntary Protection Partnership Certification. The Harrodsburg plant opened in 1970 and serves customers such as Peterbilt, John Deere, International, Caterpillar, Blue Diamond Truck and DaimlerChrysler.

Also at the presentation were Philip Anderson, KY Commissioner of the Department of Labor; Steve Forbes, Assistant Director of KY OSHA Education and Training; Larry Potter, Safety Program Manager, Education and Training, KY OSHA; Fran Carney, Development Specialist, Cabinet for Economic Development; Lonnie Campbell, Mayor of Harrodsburg; John Trisler, Mercer County Judge Executive; Dr. Earl Motzer, Chairman, James B.
