Students at College for Creative Studies Display Creativity Behind Automotive Design at 2005 North American International Auto Show

DETROIT, Jan. 10, 2005 -- Questioning the norm, achieving what "can't" be achieved and creating solutions to problems with passion, innovation and desire embodies the dedication that the next generation of auto designers pour into work that someday could find its way into the automotive marketplace.

Those aspirations are cultivated in the College for Creative Studies' Transportation Design program and will be on display at the College's exhibit "Creative Movement" on the lower level of Cobo Center at this year's North American International Auto Show.

The College will showcase premier car models created by senior Transportation Design students for the American Iron and Steel Institute as well as a full size, operational, motorbike that someday could revolutionize the motorbike industry.

In addition, the exhibit features a fully operational automotive design center. Using the same technology found in today's automotive design studios, CCS students will allow visitors to experience the thought process and methods used to create automobiles that one day may be seen cruising down our highways.

The College has a long history of producing graduates who have had a profound effect on automotive design including Doug Gaffka '78, designer of the 2005 Ford Mustang, Bruce Campbell '74, creator of the Nissan Xterra, and Ralph Gilles '92, designer of the Chrysler 300C.

The College for Creative Studies (CCS) is one of the nation's leading arts education institutions. With the world's most recognized program in transportation design, CCS alumni influence and shape the automotive design industry daily. From innovative exteriors to dynamic interiors, CCS graduates have had a hand in most of the cars on the road. CCS, located in Detroit's Cultural Center, produces leaders in Animation and Digital Media, Art Education, Communication Design, Crafts, Fine Arts, Illustration, Industrial Design, Interior Design and Photography.
