Toyoda Gosei North America to Open Plant in San Antonio
Employment and investment figures are 50% greater than anticipated
TROY, Mich., Jan. 10 -- Toyoda Gosei North America announced their plans to establish a new automotive parts manufacturing facility, Toyoda Gosei Texas (TGTX), located in the southern region of San Antonio. The plant is being established to support various automotive components for the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas (TMMTX) plant, set to begin production in Fall 2006.
TGTX is one of eighteen suppliers to be located on-site of the new Toyota truck plant location. In total, the suppliers will employ more than 1,500 and invest about $150 million, figures 50% greater than earlier estimates.
TMMTX will employ about 2,000 team members and invest $800 million in a plant that will produce 150,000 Tundra pickup trucks annually. When production begins in the Fall of 2006, on-site suppliers will provide a myriad of parts, materials and logistics services.
