Ford, Mazda, and Changan Automotive Group Gain Government Approval for New Manufacturing Facility in Nanjing

Tokyo January 8, 2005; JCNN reported that Ford Motor Company, Mazda Motor, and Changan Automotive Group of China jointly announced January 7 that the Chinese government has granted approval for a joint venture manufacturing facility in the Jiangning Economic & Technological Development Zone near Nanjing, Jaingsu Province.

The first plant to be built in China for all three companies working together, this facility will feature the latest safety and environmental standards and have an initial annual manufacturing capacity of 160,000 vehicles for Mazda and Ford.

To be built and managed jointly by the three companies, the plant will eventually be expanded to be able to produce up to 200,000 units.
