BURSCHEID, Germany and DETROIT, Michigan, January 8 --
- New Solutions for Greater Flexibility and Comfort
Johnson Controls, a global market leader in automotive interior systems, electronics and batteries, is unveiling numerous new products and processes for automotive interiors at the 2005 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). As a sponsor for the 11th consecutive year, Johnson Controls will highlight its all-new next generation of seating, electronics solutions and interior components during the 2005 NAIAS display in room D2-15 at Detroit's Cobo Center. Johnson Controls will also give two press conferences from their booth: at 9.40 am on Sunday 9 January, 2005 and at 2.30 pm on Tuesday 11 January, 2005.
From a seat to a flat-load-floor in just 10 seconds
The first press conference focuses on two new concept seats entitled 'FastForward Seating' and the 'Genus Seat'. Those present will also witness the introduction of the new CrafTec Multi-Color Injection (MCI) process. 'FastForward Seating' is a highly versatile seat system for the second and third rows of seats in Sport Utility Vehicles, crossover vehicles and minivans which converts to a flat-load-floor in just 10 seconds. Its benefits: without having to remove the seat the driver can create a maximum loading space in a very short time and with minimum effort. With the 'Genus Seat' Johnson Controls presents a new design study where comfort and brand differentiation set new standards.
Johnson Controls provides equally in process innovation: 'CrafTec' production technologies enable a very high design flexibility by combining different materials and colours in just one production step. This significantly increases the craftsmanship of these products. The company is also launching several innovations in its electronics range.
New design approach also extended to electronic products
The second press conference focuses on user-friendly instrument clusters that combine value-added new design, innovative lighting technologies and intelligent functions with cost-effective integration. Johnson Controls also reveals a new partnership for the 'Railport Vehicle Personalization system'. This is a system for the overhead consisting of two parallel rails which the driver can equip with various electronic and non-electronic modules to suit his or her individual tastes and requirements.
For the ninth consecutive year Johnson Controls is sponsoring the AutoWeek Design Forum. This event takes place on Wednesday 12 January, 2005 at the Cobo Center in conjunction with the 2005 NAIAS.
