January 4, 2005 -- SEOUL -- Kia Motors today released the first images of the newly redesigned Rio compact sedan that is scheduled to be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, USA.

Completely redesigned from the ground up, the all-new Rio will feature a longer wheelbase, a wider track and more horsepower than its predecessor, providing better handling, a smoother ride and improved levels of performance.

"We redesigned the Rio to meet the rising expectations of our customers who expect more from Kia. With improved quality and a fresher design we have created a superb vehicle that is more stylish and enjoyable to drive than its predecessor," said Yong-Hwan Kim, Senior Executive Vice President and COO of Kia Motors.

Worldwide exports for the new Rio are estimated to record 93,500 units in 2005.
