Freescale Semiconductor Names Sumit Sadana Head of Strategy
AUSTIN, Texas--Jan. 6, 2005--Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. has appointed Sumit Sadana senior vice president of strategy. Sadana will drive all strategic direction for Freescale as it continues to gain momentum as an independent company. He will work closely with each of the company's major business groups and support organizations to refine the company's strategic framework."Sumit brings intellect, clear and strategic thinking, and a unique ability to look beyond conventional wisdom and publicly reported data to gain insight into emerging trends and possibilities," said Michel Mayer, Freescale chairman and CEO. "He also acts with a sense of urgency and confidence that will be energizing to the entire Freescale team."
Sadana joined Freescale from International Business Machines (IBM) where he made substantial contributions to IBM Technology Group as vice president of IBM Electronic Design Technology Solutions business, and prior to that role, as chief strategist of Technology Group. He led the negotiating team that established a significant partnership with Samsung to develop process technology. Sadana was also responsible for driving numerous partnerships and strategic decisions, including the successful launch of the fast-growing and profitable Engineering and Technology Services business.
Sadana has bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and Stanford University, respectively. He also holds several patents.
