Auto Club Rose Parade Advisory
--'Tis the Day after Christmas and All Through the House ... We're
Decorating for New Year's, So No "Slow News Day" Grouse!
WHO: Approximately 2,000 Auto Club members will be out in force
this week starting Dec. 26 to finish decorating the Auto
Club's Tournament of Roses float, "Family Road Trip," at
Rosemont Pavilion. It's the first float you'll see as you
enter the building.
WHAT: The float is a fanciful depiction of what could have been the
world's first vacation: Mom, Dad and kids traveling on the
back of a jungle-chomping, 35-foot-high dinosaur who brings
her own youngsters along for the jungle sightseeing trip.
WHEN: Sunday, Dec. 26 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Float decorating
continues daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. through Dec. 30, and on
the morning of Dec. 31 if the float is not finished.
WHERE: Rosemont Pavilion (adjacent to the Rose Bowl), 700 Seco St.,
Pasadena
WHY: The Auto Club sponsors a float in the Tournament of Roses
Parade each year as part of its community service campaign to
raise money for charity. This year, Auto Club offices are
offering plush toy dinosaur replicas of the organization's
float in exchange for a donation of $5 or more to Orthopaedic
Hospital. Also, the Auto Club has been conducting a toy drive
in its offices to benefit young patients attending Orthopaedic
Hospital's annual holiday party.
