AORC Elects Lane Chairman of Board
WASHINGTON, D.C., Dec. 23, 2004 -- The Automotive Occupant Restraints Council (AORC) has elected Wendell C. Lane, Jr. as chairman of its board of directors. Mr. Lane is Group President, Seat Belts and Steering Wheels, North America, for Key Safety Systems, Inc. He is responsible for the sales, marketing, engineering, and operations of these two major business units.
The AORC is a non-profit, international organization that helps establish uniform production and quality standards for vehicle safety system components. Mr. Lane has served as a board member since 2000.
Before joining Key Safety Systems in 1995, Mr. Lane spent five years with TRW Vehicle Safety Systems where he was Vice President of Seat Belt Product Engineering. Prior to that he was employed from 1974 to 1990 at Dana Corporation where he designed and manufactured axles, clutches, transmissions, and electronic drive train controls.
An inventor, Mr. Lane has received more than 30 patents in the fields of drive trains, control systems, and vehicle safety restraint systems. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Tri-State University (Indiana) and his Master of Business Administration degree from St. Francis College (Indiana).
Mr. Lane and his wife, Debbie, reside in Romeo, Michigan. They have three adult children.
