Delphi Medical Systems will manufacture the Ophthonix Z-View(TM) Aberrometer, a device designed to provide eye care practitioners with a completely objective refraction that measures the unique optical fingerprint of each patient and enables the production of the first ever customized eyeglasses under the iZon(TM) brand name, as well as contact lenses.
"This win is an excellent example of Delphi Medical's strategic and consistent growth in the medical device industry," said Christophe Sevrain, managing director of Delphi Medical Systems. "We are even better positioned today to support Ophthonix with our newly acquired manufacturing facility in Colorado."
Delphi Medical Systems employees are trained and experienced in manufacturing for the medical device industry. They have broad expertise manufacturing highly complex, state-of-the-art medical devices under the highest quality standards.
The Z-View Aberrometer replaces several tests currently performed in the eye doctor's office and provides the most complete and accurate account of the patient's optical errors and imperfections. Other tests are only able to measure low order refractive errors while the Z-View measures both low- and high-order errors. Refractive errors are defined as low- or high-level correction, based on the levels at which they occur on the Zernike Polynominal chart, a standard chart used by eye care practitioners.
"The Z-View Aberrometer is an advanced and highly-technical device that requires the skills and expertise of a company like Delphi Medical to produce," said Andreas Dreher, Ph.D., president and CEO of Ophthonix. "The Z-View is a 'new-generation technology' that will greatly improve vision correction." The ability of the Z-View technology to correct high order errors can reduce glare, blurring and improve contrast. Even night vision can be improved, he said.
