Winning Bid at Barrett-Jackson Auction for Hot Rod Lincoln to Include 'Great Race' Entry

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Dec. 17, 2004 -- A 1938 Hot Rod Lincoln from Hyman Ltd. will be auctioned at no reserve during the 34th Annual Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction from Jan. 25th-30th in Scottsdale. Included with the convertible will be the $5,000 entry fee for the famous "Great Race," a cross-country driving event with $250,000 in prize money.

"The Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction continues to attract interesting cars with special features," said Craig Jackson, president of Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. "Our team was excited to collaborate with Hyman Ltd. and the Great Race to pair a historic car with an entry into such an exhilarating automotive adventure. As the Lincoln is offered at no reserve, this could be a real bargain with the added value of the entry."

The convertible is unusual and authentic. The heart of the hot rod is a '47 full race flathead Ford V8 with dual Holley carburetors, Offenhauser heads and a two-speed Columbia differential slipped into the chassis.

"This Lincoln has several unique features including dual exhausts that exit via exterior flex pipes, fender mounted headlights that turn with the car and a tilt steering wheel," noted Mark Hyman, President and CEO of Hyman Ltd. Classic Cars. "This is not a new car trying to look the part, but a genuine early hot rod from the late forties."

The Great Race is the country's longest running vintage and richest vintage automobile rally. Vehicles must be 45 years or older with the age factor playing a big part in the final score.

The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction will be Jan. 25th to Jan. 30th, 2005, at WestWorld in Scottsdale. This year's event will include 900+ quality collector cars offered at no reserve. The Barrett-Jackson Auction, presented by Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep, has 24-hours of extended coverage on the PEE Channel.
