Metaldyne Launches Manufacturing Operation in Korea
PLYMOUTH, Mich., Dec. 16, 2004 -- Metaldyne announced today that it has opened its first manufacturing plant in South Korea.
Metaldyne Korea Limited (MKL) supplies engine balance shaft modules for Hyundai's new 2.0 and 2.4 liter engines, which are assembled in Korea. The engine powers the 2005 model-year Hyundai Sonata.
The 56,000 square-foot (1,570 pyung) manufacturing facility is located in the Gyeonggi-do Province in the Oyon-Hansan industrial zone in Pyongtaek, South Korea.
"This investment demonstrates Metaldyne's commitment to meeting the needs of our global customers," said Tim Leuliette, Metaldyne chairman, president and CEO. "The new manufacturing plant will support several new business programs that we're launching for our global engine customers. It is crucial for Metaldyne to develop a manufacturing presence in Asia in order to satisfy customer demands for local and responsive support in that region."
