Sports Cars Gone Wild: Billed as 'Premier Street Legal Racing Event of the Year'

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Dec. 14, 2004--SPEED Channel cameras will be on hand to record the inaugural running of Sports Cars Gone Wild, an event matching some of the world's most prestigious luxury marques against each other on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway road course.

"Sports Cars Gone Wild is the latest in a line of SPEED Channel programs aimed at settling the 'my-dad-can-beat-your-dad' arguments amongst car enthusiasts," said Robert Ecker, SPEED Channel's VP of Programming. "With specials like Tradin' Paint, where legendary drivers Jeff Gordon and Juan Pablo Montoya swapped race cars for a day at Indy, Dream Car Garage's Muscle Car Shootout and the upcoming PINKS -- where if you lose the race, you lose your car -- SPEED rapidly is becoming home to anything that needs to be settled on the track."

Current model-year machines from Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Corvette, Ford GT, Viper and more will race for bragging rights under the following rules of participation:

-- Participating cars must be factory versions with either professional drivers or owner/drivers in the cockpit. No performance modifications will be permitted.

-- Each car will get three turns on the road course, the fastest of the three runs will be used for final scoring. The fastest car at the end of the day takes home the trophy.

-- There will be no limitation on the number of cars participating. Multiple cars of the same make and model will be allowed.

"For exotic car enthusiasts, this is the ultimate event of the year -- a must see," said Executive Producer Michael Hayes.

Sports Cars Gone Wild will be held Feb. 15, 2005, with footage from the event being aired on SPEED in the second quarter of 2005. The program will be produced by Lingner Group Productions.
