Reynolds and Reynolds' Networkcar(R) Awarded Contract With U.S. Marine Corps
SAN DIEGO, Dec. 9, 2004 -- Networkcar(R), a Reynolds and Reynolds company , today announced that it has been awarded a firm, fixed price indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract with the U.S. Marine Corps. Networkcar will provide Networkfleet units for vehicles at five Marine Corp locations in California including the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Camp Pendleton Base, San Diego Recruit Depot, Twenty-nine Palms Air Ground Combat Center and Mountain Warfare Training Center.
The contract for vehicle data recorders is for a base year and (4) one- year options and has a total potential value of $1.6 million. The Marines are currently using Networkfleet(TM) vehicle data recorders on vehicles located in California and this contract will allow them to equip additional vehicles within the state.
Networkfleet collects and organizes detailed automotive information directly from a vehicle's engine computer and location-based information from a global positioning system (GPS). This information is then transmitted wirelessly from the vehicle to a network operation center and made available online for fleets to monitor items such as current location, miles per gallon, mileage, emission status and speed with the click of a mouse.
"We are excited to have been awarded a contract to allow the Marines to deploy additional Networkfleet systems to help them manage their fleet," said Networkcar president Dave Dutch. "Networkcar's fleet management system, Networkfleet, helps fleet operators reduce operating costs and improve productivity. The Marines are able to promote driver safety, quickly locate and recover vehicles when necessary and maximize fleet vehicle utilization using the Networkfleet system."
"Networkfleet helps us increase safety on the bases," said Camp Pendleton Fleet Manager/Regional Maintenance Coordinator Bill Martine. "One of our goals is to reduce the number of speed-related accidents. With Networkfleet we can monitor vehicle speeds at all times. The system also helps us improve maintenance since we now have up-to-the minute information on the operating condition of each vehicle."
