United Recyclers Group, LLC (URG) and Participants in Its Premium Recycled Parts (Team PRP(TM)) Form Inter-Industry Committee to Increase Salvage Part Usage

AURORA, Colo., Dec. 8, 2004 -- United Recyclers Group, LLC (URG) and participants in a major program of URG, Premium Recycled Parts (Team PRP(TM)) developed an advisory committee of key personnel from every segment of the automotive industry. The committee held its first meeting at the NACE

-- International Autobody Congress Exposition in Las Vegas, NV.

The first meeting was very successful with seventeen committee members in attendance. There were vital representatives from each segment of the industry present including the insurance sector, data providers and estimating software vendors, independent collision shops, consolidated collision shops, mechanical shops, auto recyclers, as well as representatives from United Recyclers Group, LLC and the Premium Recycled Parts program.

The committee's goal at the first meeting was a fact finding mission. URG is seeking to gather information from each of these areas of the marketplace and drill down to the issues within this industry that cause low used part usage rates.

"The first meeting was a resounding success. With all the entities involved present, we were able to identify a number of impediments in the process, from the insertion of quality parts data into the estimate through the supply of quality salvage parts into the repair facility. The panel participants were all very enthusiastic about the meeting results and it's apparent that we have a number of areas that can be improved that will enhance the process," says John Fischl, owner of Riteway Auto Parts in Phoenix, AZ and director of Preferred Auto Recyclers (PAR).

United Recyclers Group, LLC is focused on continuing with the positive momentum from the first meeting and working with the advisory committee to develop intermediate and long term goals to increase the used part usage rate in each segment of the industry and to make the buying experience a satisfying one, from the first contact to the final sale.

URG is a partnership of over 300 auto recyclers that have worked to make changes in the automotive recycling industry. Changes they have been made include developing their own inventory management system, Pinnacle, creating a buying cooperative, offering group marketing options, and forming the Premium Recycled Parts Program.
