PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 7 -- DaimlerChrysler Services North America and its Philadelphia Customer Contact Center will present a $25,000 donation to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia tomorrow at DaimlerChrysler Services' Philadelphia office.
The first $12,500 donation was raised by the dedicated employees at the Philadelphia Center through various fund-raising activities throughout the year. The selected charity this year is the Joseph Polisi Jr. Endowed Fund at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Joseph's parents established the fund at the Children's Hospital to help develop cures for brain cancer. The fund was named after Joseph Polisi who died on December 22, 2003 of a rare brain tumor at the age of two.
The second $12,500 was donated on behalf of DaimlerChrysler Services. "At DaimlerChrysler Services we take our social responsibility seriously," said Brent Black, Senior Manager - Philadelphia Customer Contact Center for DaimlerChrysler Services. "We are proud of our employees' extraordinary contributions to the Joseph Polisi Jr. Endowed Fund and that is why the corporation matched the donation with $12,500 more to help families in need who have a child with brain cancer," Black added.
Through this donation to the Polisi family's endowed patient fund, Children's Hospital is able to provide support for the work of junior and senior hospital faculty and their research initiatives. Additionally, the money will be used to help fund the work of Peter Phillips, M.D., who treated Joseph and is the Director of the Pediatric Neuro-oncology Program at Children's Hospital.
