Terion Announces FleetView Product Enhancement -- Active Geofencing
PLANO, Texas--Nov. 3, 20040, 2004--Terion, the leading provider of trailer fleet management systems with over 80,000 devices installed, today released the latest enhancement to its FleetView(R) 3 trailer management system. Active Geofencing provides increased visibility and control, resulting in improved operational efficiency and security of the trailer fleet.FleetView 3 Active Geofencing stores user-defined geofencing rules in the memory of the unit on the trailer. Storing the geofence information in the device allows for the detection of a geofence breach immediately and results in a message back to the fleet manager only if the geofence is breached. Active Geofencing improves upon typical geofencing applications that rely on a server to detect these events after a location message is transmitted, a method which may delay notification or miss geofence breaches altogether. The user can specify the method of notification, which could be via e-mail or a text message to a cell phone. A few examples of FleetView Active Geofencing capabilities are listed below:
-- Landmark Entry/Exit - FleetView 3 can report entry to or exit from a landmark, even if the trailer simply passes through the landmark.
-- Unloaded Outside Landmark - With Terion's industry-leading Cargo Sensor, customers can receive an alert if a trailer is unloaded outside its intended destination or a set of allowable destinations.
-- Door Open Outside Landmark - Send an alert notification if the trailer door is opened outside its destination without having to send a message every time the door opens.
"Active Geofencing is the latest enhancement added to our next generation platform resident in FleetView 3," said Ken Cranston, President and CEO of Terion. "Terion's sole focus is to continue to expand FleetView's capabilities to ensure that it remains the market leading trailer management solution," Cranston concluded.
About FleetView 3
FleetView 3 provides a comprehensive trailer fleet management system that allows transportation companies to maximize efficiencies associated with trailer fleet operations by combining a high-bandwidth wireless path with intelligent messaging and sensor capabilities. Typical benefits associated with FleetView include an increase in trailer utilization and a reduced trailer-to-tractor ratio. Information is provided to the operator over the Internet through Terion's patented hardware and software design.
The design integrates GPS and digital CDMA cellular technology for comprehensive coverage throughout the United States and Canada.
FleetView communicates real-time trailer location and event status when the trailer is tethered or untethered, including an accurate determination of loaded or unloaded status with FleetView's Cargo Sensor. The system uniquely supports over-the-air software downloads for device settings and software upgrades.
