GM to Sponsor Annual Detroit Parade Through 2006

DETROIT November 22, 2004; General Motors today announced it will be the exclusive automotive sponsor of the WDIV-TV broadcast of America's Thanksgiving Parade® , a Detroit holiday mainstay since 1924, and events preceding and following the parade. In addition, GM will be the presenting sponsor for syndicated broadcasts of the parade in 200 local markets throughout Michigan and around the U.S.

"GM is proud to help make this grand Detroit tradition possible," said Debbie Dingell, executive director, community and government relations, and vice chairman of the GM Foundation. Dingell announced the media sponsorship this morning at the General Motors Pancake Breakfast, held at The Parade Company in Detroit. The annual breakfast officially kicks off America's Thanksgiving Parade week events each year.

In addition to the media sponsorship, GM will provide more than 40 vehicles to serve as float tow units and celebrity and parade VIP carriers. A red Corvette C6 will lead the parade, which begins its march up Woodward Avenue at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. GM's parade fleet will feature vehicles from Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac.

General Motors also will sponsor a new parade float, "Let Freedom Ring." This float, which is a patriotic salute to the U.S. Armed Forces, features innovative engineering that allows it to be disassembled and shipped to other events around the country.

GM also is one of the sponsors of the "Hob Nobble Gobble," a black-tie fundraising event that benefits The Parade Company, the Detroit-based not-for-profit organization responsible for production of America's Thanksgiving Parade( and the International Freedom Festival Fireworks, whose mission is to fund, create and execute the best family events in metro Detroit.
