DataDot Offers Advanced Security Protection for Powersports Owners
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 19, 2004 -- Motorcycle costs today are in excess of $20,000, making them a prime target for thieves who attempt to sell stolen cycles or strip them down in a chop-like fashion to resell the parts. In an effort to combat theft of motorcycles and other powersports equipment such as ATVs, scooters, snowmobiles and personal watercraft, DataDot Technology USA Inc, has established a national agreement with Sports Protection Group, LLC, to market the new DataDot Powersports System. The new kit will be marketed as DataDot Powersports through http://www.datadotpowersports.com/

"Powersport equipment theft is a major problem that is costing the general public, businesses, law enforcement and insurance companies hundreds of millions of dollars annually," said Frank Stephens, President of DataDot PowerSports. "The DataDot Powersports System will not only deter the opportunity for theft but if your equipment is stolen the chances of recovery are greatly enhanced with the DataDot Powersports System."
Available through the web at http://www.datadotpowersports.com/ , the DataDot Powersports System offers consumers theft protection for their equipment through the powersport kit as well as registration of their equipment with a national database. The national database will be accessible by local law enforcement agencies.
Each kit contains a clear-drying ultra-violet traced liquid adhesive, and "dots," the size of a grain of sand. The "dots," made from a durable polyester substrate, have been laser etched with a microscopic personal identification number making it easier for law enforcement to trace the stolen item back to the current owner in the event of theft.
By applying the dots to inconspicuous places on the owner's equipment and then registering the product and personal identification number with DataDot PowerSports, the consumer is one step closer toward protecting their valuable assets.
Once the registration information has been received, DataDot PowerSports will register the PIN with a national database. This registration partnership helps law enforcement agencies with the recovery of stolen property and the ability to quickly determine the rightful owner. By using ultra-violet light technology to scan the equipment the ultra-violet traces in the adhesive indicate the location of a "dot." Through magnification the law enforcement officer can read the PIN etched on the "dot" and then use the national database to determine the rightful owner of the stolen equipment.
"DataDots are a cost effective way for citizens to mark their valuables while decreasing their risks of theft and fraud," said Mike Austin of the Iowa State Patrol. "In the United States alone, a burglary happens every 11 seconds. With the use of DataDots, we are able to identify and recover the stolen item quicker thereby limiting the losses that occur from these types of crimes."
While protecting your equipment with the Powersport kit, the Powersports System offers consumers the opportunity to add to their purchase a Theft Protection Policy. In the event the stolen property is not recovered and deemed an insurance write-off, the policy will pay the consumer a predetermined cash amount that can be used toward the replacement of the stolen product. Although not a part of the DataDot Powersports System consumers can also purchase an Extended Service Contract and Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) through the DataDot PowerSports website, http://www.datadotpowersports.com/ .
