AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch; Pump Prices Drop for Thanksgiving
IRVING, Texas--Nov. 1, 20049, 2004--Fuel prices drop for the third straight week as motorists prepare to head out for the Thanksgiving holiday, according to AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch.The Texas average for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline decreased nearly three cents to $1.847. Last year, the statewide average was $1.392 a gallon.
"Thanksgiving is traditionally a driving holiday," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "This holiday more than 80% of all travelers will travel by automobile, despite gasoline averages being about 50 cents higher today than a year ago."
The national average for regular self-serve gasoline dropped three cents to $1.951 a gallon.
