Chrysler Group Selects Pasha for Hawaii Transport; Multi-Year Contract Taps Roll-on/Roll-off Capability of New Vessel MV Jean Anne
CORTE MADERA, Calif.--Nov. 1, 20048, 2004--A leading global transportation and logistics provider, The Pasha Group, today announced that it has been awarded a multi-year contract to handle the Chrysler Group's new car requirements for the Hawaiian Islands, beginning in March 2005.Pasha will transport Chrysler Group vehicles to Hawaii aboard the MV Jean Anne, a 579-foot Pure Car Truck Carrier roll-on/roll-off (Ro/Ro) ship owned and operated by Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines, a joint venture between The Pasha Group, a Corte Madera-based company, and Strong Vessel Operators LLC, a Stamford, Conn.-based ship owner and operator. This is a total supply chain logistics offering encompassing direct-thru movement from the Chrysler Group's West Coast rail ramp at Mira Loma through Pasha's Port of San Diego auto processing facility to the four major Hawaiian ports of Honolulu, Kahului, Hilo and Nawiliwili.
The Jean Anne has 10 decks that can carry more than 3,000 vehicles. The vessel's Ro/Ro design provides the industry-preferred method of transporting vehicles and other rolling stock. The ship is the first of its kind to be built in the United States and was recently launched in Pascagoula, Miss.
