ISO/TS 16949:2002 is an international Quality Management System automotive "sector-specific" technical specification based on ISO 9001:2000, QS-9000 and several other international automotive requirements. ISO/TS 16949:2002 was developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in conjunction with the international standards community. This technical specification, when coupled with the applicable IATF customer-specific requirements, and IATF-specific auditing and qualification procedures, provides the basis for an IATF- recognized registrar such as SRI to certify Shiloh Industries.
SRI Quality System Registrar is an internationally accredited registrar for quality management systems standards, such as ISO 9001, QS-9000, AS9100, ISO/TS 16949, and environmental management systems standards such as ISO 14001.
Over the past year, all eleven of Shiloh Industries manufacturing facilities in the US and Mexico have earned their certification by undergoing audits of this rigorous automotive quality standard. ISO/TS16949 is considered the most comprehensive of the existing industry standards and is generally accepted by all major industries. Shiloh Industries quality system includes Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), 8D problem solving, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) consistent with ISO/TS16949 requirements. Using Six Sigma methodology for continual improvement, Shiloh focuses on quality in all phases of product development, manufacturing and delivery.
