POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 13, 2004) - Johnny Gray squeaked Don Schumacher's
Wonder Wagon Dodge into the 14th spot in the final round of qualifying today
with a 4.837-second elapsed time at 324.05 mph and will face his teammate
Gary Scelzi's nemesis Del Worsham in the first round of eliminations.

"Phew! That's all I've got to say," he said following the less-than-perfect
pass that put him into the field after sitting outside of it.

"Dan Olson (crew chief) stepped the car up a little bit, but it still was a
little soft. It shook pretty hard. I was really amazed that it drove through
it. But it got down and ran hard on the top and got us in. We're kind of
sneaking up on the thing. We know where we're at. I think we can step it up
for tomorrow.

"Worsham's going to have some problems facing us tomorrow," he smiled.
"We're going after to him and see if we can put him away and help Gary out
for second in the championship."

Scelzi needs to go more rounds than Worsham to take second place in the NHRA
POWERade Drag Racing Series Funny Car championship.
