GM Sponsored Auctions Launch Plus Program

Provides New Level Of High-Quality Used Vehicles To GM Dealers At Auctions

DETROIT - General Motors Remarketing today announced the launch of the GM Sponsored Plus program, which will offer a new, enhanced level of high-quality, reconditioned used vehicles to GM dealers exclusively at all GM Sponsored Auctions.

GM Sponsored Plus used vehicles, available beginning on November 15 exclusively at 46 GM Sponsored Auctions across the United States, have undergone rigorous interior and exterior reconditioning and detailing by trained technicians to create a cosmetically superior vehicle. GM Sponsored Auctions now offer three distinct levels of used vehicles to meet the used-vehicle inventory requirements of GM dealers, all of which meet the high GM reconditioning standards established with the auctions:

GM Sponsored Vehicles receive standard bumper-to-bumper reconditioning - engine, interior, exterior and trunk - and select interior and exterior repairs.

GM Sponsored Plus Vehicles receive rigorous interior and exterior detailing and reconditioning by trained auction technicians, exterior clay-bar and paint sealing after removing dents, scratches and body damage, and fabric and leather cleaning and conditioning. All GM Sponsored Plus vehicles have floor mats and key fob.

GM FrontLine Ready Vehicles are mechanically and cosmetically inspected, repaired and reconditioned by GM Sponsored Auctions technicians to meet or exceed the stringent 110-plus-point inspection and reconditioning process that makes the vehicles retail-ready and qualifies them as candidates for the GM Certified Used Vehicles, Cadillac Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles and Used Cars from Saturn programs. All GM FrontLine Ready vehicles have floor mats, key fob, and owner's manuals. "The GM Sponsored Plus program now provides dealers with good, better and best options to acquire high-quality used vehicles that meet their specific inventory requirements and were developed in response to their feedback," said Jeff Heichel, Director, GM Used Vehicle Activities. "GM Sponsored Plus provides dealers the opportunity to purchase a vehicle on which body and interior repairs have been completed, so they can take vehicle back to the dealership, perform the required mechanical work, and put it out for sale without putting it through the body shop." About GM Remarketing GM has been a major participant in the growth of the auction industry over the last two decades. In 1983, GM used 10 auctions with sales of nearly 20,000 used vehicles. Today GM redistributes used, off-lease and off-rent vehicles to GM dealers, with the help of 46 GM Sponsored Auctions nationwide. This provides value not only for GM, but also provides a source that makes available high-quality used vehicles for GM dealers.
