VOLO, Ill., Nov. 9, 2004 -- The Volo Auto Museum will celebrate the grand opening of its armed-forces exhibit with a VFW flag dedication Thanksgiving weekend.

"We have worked hard for nearly two years and invested all of our admission proceeds to properly honor the many contributions that military men and women have made to this country," Museum President Greg Grams said.

The Combat Zone is the name of the museum's all-new military adventure. It features authentic uniforms, weapons and vehicles from all eras displayed in action-packed scenes with heart-pounding sound effects and professional stage lighting.

Museum patrons will see a German armored personnel carrier parading through the streets of a French village, an American tank patrolling the jungles of Vietnam, a Russian machinegun nest and other realistic battle scenes.

"It's a real blast!" Grams said.

In addition to the dioramas, the exhibit will feature the Lake County Discovery Museum's Civil War Collection, the Tim Davis Vietnam War Collection and other historically significant artifacts.

Libertyville Memorial VFW Post 8741 will perform the flag dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 26.

The museum is a 30-acre theme park with over 300 collector cars for sale and the Midwest's largest collection of TV and movie cars. Also, five antique malls and a gift shop packed with unique gift ideas, especially hard-to-find automotive memorabilia.
