RINGERS GLOVES WEEKEND WRAP-UP

Indianapolis – (November 8, 2004) Race seasons across the country are
starting to wind down as the middle of November quickly approaches.
Only two races remain in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series 2004 “Chase for the
Championship.”
After Penske Racing South driver Ryan Newman blistered the previous track
record held by teammate Rusty Wallace on Friday, Newman’s streak of “Bud Pole
bad luck” continued during the Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix
International Raceway.
When Newman took the green after the red flag for rain thrown by NASCAR
early in the race, he noticed a problem with his tires. Newman pulled his No.
12 ALLTEL/TXT2Win MVP Sweepstakes Dodge into his pit stall for a right-side
tire change only.
That maneuver put Newman in 35th place and one lap down.
Throughout the remainder of the race, Newman never gave up and rallied his
No. 12 ALLTEL/TXT2Win MVP Sweepstakes Dodge to a second place finish.
Newman’s Penske Racing teammates of Rusty Wallace and Brendan Gaughan
finished seventh and 30th respectively.
Newman still sits seventh in points, but only six points behind sixth place
Tony Stewart.
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series also visited Phoenix over the weekend.
Ringers Gloves supporting team of Orleans Racing scored another top-10
finish on the year with driver Steve Park finishing sixth.
Another Ringers supporting team, Ultra Motorsports, also had a good showing
in the Chevy Silverado 150 presented by Valley Chevy Dealers.
P.J. Jones drove the No. 2 Team ASE/Carquest Dodge from an 18th place
starting position to a top-10 finish with an eighth.
Ted Musgrave and his No. 1 Team Mopar Dodge finished in the 19th position.
Tracy Hines, driver of the No. 88 Menards Chevrolet and protected with
UnderX by Ringers, was involved in an accident on lap 106 and finished 34th.
In USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series action, Ringers racer Bud
Kaeding brought home his second Western World title at Manzanita Speedway in
Phoenix on Saturday night.
The win secured Kaeding with a second place finish in the 2004 USAC
Valvoline National Sprint Car Series final point standings.
