Tom Craze/Roush Test Press Release

CRAZE INVITED TO “THE GONG SHOW”

Indianapolis – (November 3, 2004) Tom Craze celebrated his birthday in Charlotte on October 26, as he was chosen as one of 24 drivers to give it his all in Roush Racing’s “Race for the Ride” test held at North Carolina Speedway in North Wilkesboro, N.C.

Craze, 22, driver of the BoGo Racing/Tom Craze Motorsports No. 75 Pathfinder/Ford Taurus late model, is a regular in the KY Clutch and Performance Late Model Series at Salem Speedway (Ind.) and has run a limited schedule in the Sunoco Super Series in 2004.

Craze started his racing career in the “foundation of motorsports,” the World Karting Association (WKA) and worked his way up through the WKA ranks, winning numerous national championships and key karting events.

Craze made a brief career in open wheel midgets, running in both United States Auto Club (USAC) and the NAMARS series in the Midwest, before moving onto late models in early March 2004.

Craze was one of 24 drivers selected for an opportunity to test in a Roush Racing NASCAR Craftsman Truck.

“The Gong Show,” as motorsports media has dubbed it, was held over a three-day period, October 25-27, in North Wilkesboro.

Unfortunately, Craze and the seven other drivers’ test day on October 27 was rained out and not rescheduled due to schedule conflictions and time restraints of Roush Racing’s.

Although the opportunity seemed like the opportunity of a lifetime slipped through Craze’s fingers, he is not upset.

“It was cool just to be invited by Roush down to North Wilkesboro for a chance to test,” said Craze.

“I’m disappointed their scheduling and Mother Nature didn’t play in my favor, but I understand Roush’s time crunch with their hectic NASCAR schedules. Hopefully they’ll remember me and we’ll see what happens in the future.”
