Volvo Cars Sets All Time Record for October Sales
Sales Increase for Fourth Consecutive Month - Up 6.9 Percent
IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 3 -- Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (VCNA) posted sales of 11,634 units in the United States for the month, which is the best October on record for Volvo in the United States. The increase of 6.9 percent, compared to the same period last year, is the fourth such monthly increase in a row. Year-to-date, Volvo Cars continues its record pace with sales up 3.3 percent.
"The continuous growth that we are experiencing is an indication that consumers are responding to the conscience, care, and character of the Volvo brand," said Vic Doolan, President and CEO, VCNA. "We are also proud of the industry recognition for our cars. It validates that consumers are making the right choice," he said.
Recently, the award-winning new S40 earned highest owner's satisfaction honors in the JD Power APEAL study, winning the Premium Mid-sized segment. Earlier in the month Volvo's award-winning XC90 tied for the top spot in Kelley Blue Book's assessment of Residual Value. And, the XC90 was a leader among all SUVs in ALG's evaluation of Residual Value. Doolan emphasized the importance of these results by saying, "Resale value is the ultimate mirror that reflects the true strength of a premium brand."
The S40 and XC90 remain headliners for Volvo. October was the best selling month ever for the S40, in its segment. And last week, Volvo's new XC90 V8 debuted in North America at the California International Auto Show. The V8 will appear in showrooms in early 2005.
NAFTA (United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico) sales for the month were up 7.4 percent. Sales in Canada and Mexico increased 10.1 and 20.3 percent, respectively.
