RaySat Unveils Two Inch In-Motion Satellite Antenna
Industry's Thinnest
MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 2 -- RaySat, Inc., a leading supplier of in-motion antennas and communications solutions, introduced today the first ultra low profile in-motion antenna to receive live satellite television.
The two-inch high antenna will be available commercially in 2005 in two versions: the StealthRay, an "in-roof" antenna that will be built into vehicles by car and RV manufacturers, and the StingRay LP (low profile), an "on-roof" antenna to be offered through aftermarket channels.
"With the introduction of this industry-first antenna, RaySat is establishing itself as the clear technological leader in the mobile satellite antenna industry," said RaySat President and CEO Samer Salameh. "This is a continuation of our proud technological innovation tradition, as evidenced by our commercially available StingRay antenna, which is the only in-motion antenna to receive both DirecTV and DISH satellite signals."
The two-inch antenna shaves over three inches off competitors' models, offering a very sleek and more appealing look. In fact, the StealthRay, "in- roof" model becomes almost invisible because it is embedded in the roof design of the vehicle.
RaySat's other accomplishments include: * Introduction of TorpedoRay in 2003, the only antenna to allow fast train passengers in Europe to access the Internet on their laptop computers. * Introduction of StingRay antenna in 2004. The company will begin shipment of preorders to their network of dealers next month. Other StingRay antenna advantages compared to competitors include: * Stronger signal for a 40 to 50 percent better performance * Worldwide coverage that includes not only the U.S., but also Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia * More viewing and music channels available because of the ability to receive all programming providers, PLUS * StingRay can switch between satellites which means users can access thousands of channels.
The in-car video market is becoming mainstream in the U.S., with analysts predicting that the market will double in the next few years and reach 10 million vehicles sold with this capability by 2007.
"The in-motion entertainment industry is about more than just watching DVDs," Salameh said. "With our technology, passengers can now watch their favorite TV programs on long road trips, as well as trips around the corner or while taking kids to school."
