Cruz Pedregon Lines Up 13th
Advance Auto Parts to Face Bazemore in Round One

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 30, 2005) Cruz Pedregon, who drives the Advance Auto Parts
Monte Carlo Nitro Funny Car, lines up in the 13th positions for tomorrow¹s
AC Delco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Pedregon faces off against Whit Bazemore in the first round of eliminations
tomorrow, took home a 4.870-second elapsed time at 318.47 mph.

³The car ran well, and we made it down the track in three of the four
sessions,² Pedregon said. ³We may have a little gremlin in there that¹s
biting us, but overall, we made solid runs and whenever you run
4.80-anythings it¹s a great run.

³We have been very consistent as well,² Pedregon added. ³The car feels like
it¹s a little down on horsepower, or the fuel curve is off a bit. I¹m sure
(crew chief) Wes (Cerny) will figure it out and we¹ll get it right.
Qualifying is important, but it¹s what we do on race day that really
matters. The key for us is that we get it together tomorrow.²

Advance Auto Parts Notebook:

STRATEGY: Advance Auto Parts Funny Car driver Cruz Pedregon talked a little
about how the team approaches different situations. Especially how they have
reacted during this weekend¹s qualifying at The Strip at the Las Vegas Motor
Speedway.

³Sometimes you have to just run these cars before you learn what needs to be
done,² Pedregon said. ³You always want to get some information because you
don¹t want to get crazy and start changing everything. Wes and his
mythodical approach are perfect for these situations. I¹m sure things will
work out. We still have a great car and anyone has a chance to win the race.

³This race track is excellent,² Pedregon added. ³Lane choice doesn¹t mean
anything and anyone can win from any position. These cars are so even, it¹s
just a matter of who gets it together the best at 11:30 in the morning.
That¹s just the way it is in Funny Car these days. It used to be where first
round was a little easier, but today, everyone is tough and it really
doesn¹t matter where you qualify.²
