Cruz Pedregon Opens Weekend in 10th
Advance Auto Parts Funny Car Prepares for Final Day of Qualifying

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 29, 2005) ­ Cruz Pedregon maneuvered his Carlos
Santana-painted Advance Auto Parts Monte Carlo Nitro Funny Car to the
provisional 10th spot for this weekendıs AC Delco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals
at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Pedregon clicked off a 4.870-second elapsed time at 318.47 mph, during
tonightıs second session.

³We changed the fuel pump prior to that last pass,² Pedregon said. ³We were
looking for a 4.70-second run, but weıre pleased with how it ran because we
made it down the track twice. Actually, it was a pretty good run considering
we had the new pump on it.

³We feel like conditions will be good again tomorrow,² Pedregon continued.
³We think we can make some improvements, but weıre pretty consistent right
now. And thatıs a real testament to how good this team is. We have a new
body on it for the Santana promotion ­ and it is pretty close to what we
normally run ­ but each car has their own personality. Everything is good
and solid. Weıll take a look at the numbers and pick up the pace for the
last two sessions. Weıll take a 4.87 over a tire smoke any day.²
